Dr. Deborah Fitzpatrick completed her Ph.D. doctoral degree in 1996 at the University of Waterloo, one of North America’s top ranking programs in Clinical Psychology. During her seven year doctoral training, she trained under the supervision of Dr. Donald Meichenbaum, who was voted one of the top 10 most influential psychologists of the 20th century, for his development of Cognitive-Behavioural psychotherapy, and known for development of treatments for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Dr. Fitzpatrick earned her undergraduate Science degree in Montreal, Quebec at McGill University completing a Major in Psychology, and a second program in Physiology, giving her excellent foundations in the knowledge of mind and body.
After completing her internships at Hamilton Health Sciences Hospitals (McMaster and Chedoke Hospitals), Grand River Hospital and KidsAbility Centre for Child Development, she opened her private practice in Cambridge in 1998. In addition to publications about sensitivity to criticism and vulnerability to depression, and romantic relationships, she also is a contributing author to books, “Driving Anxiety” and “Handbook of Stress”.
Dr. Fitzpatrick treats each client according to their individual needs, and works collaboratively with every one. She provides service to adults, adolescents and children, and has added expertise in helping people who have been involved in motor vehicle accidents, and other types of personal injury and trauma. Her training allows her to use a variety of approaches including:

Parental guidance and educational approaches are also provided as means for parents to help their children. Play therapy, counseling, and cognitive-behavioural approaches are commonly used with children and adolescents.
Outside of her career, she enjoys movies, skiing, and sailing with her family. She serves on the parent school council and environmental committee at her neighborhood school.
